Client Background and Challenges:
This timber window replacement project involved a bay window on a residential living in Newport, Melbourne.
During our on-site inspection, we noticed that this window had rotted from the sill upwards. The rot has also affected the bottom sashes. The cause of the rot was the sill, which appears to have been made with no fall for the water to run off. It was necessary to remove almost everything in contact with or joined to the sill.

The Solution & Process:
It was necessary to remove almost everything in contact or joined to the sill. A new sill was made at the workshop by taking careful measurements of the window. The rotted parts of the window frame were cut back to solid areas and new sections were jointed and glued in place. After the repairs were complete the new sashes were fitted. Filling and sanding all the repairs and then painted with an oil-based Primer/undercoat.
Final Results:
Finally, the window catches and locks were fitted. The window was then ready for its final topcoat.
